Sweco achieves a 50 percent cost saving through services provided by MCX
Sweco, formerly called Grondmij, makes a beautiful promise on their website - the company designs and develops the societies and cities of the future, in particular through the provision of engineering advice and services in the field of architecture. Sweco is one of the largest Oracle E-Business Suite users; not so much in terms of size, but the quantity of modules they use. At the beginning of this decade they were looking for a new hosting and management partner and eventually turned to MCX. Erwin Ringes, Senior Business Consultant IT at Sweco, shares their story.
Nearly all modules used
Sweco is a global company with 8 offices in the Netherlands alone. In 2002 the company started looking for an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) package and turned to Oracle. From project administration to time registration and inventory management, nearly all modules of the Oracle E-Business Suite are enabled. In their search for a new hosting and management partner they quickly found their way to MCX. Erwin Ringes: "It rapidly became clear that MCX's level of expertise is very high. We were impressed simply by looking at their client portfolio - all big names are on their client list."
Cost savings
The choice for MCX wasn't based on their expertise alone, the financial side proved to be very interesting too. "MCX charges a fixed price per month, regardless of whether they work an hour more or less. It doesn't really matter, which is very reassuring. And, even better, through this change, we saved 50 percent in management and maintenance costs for the E-Business Suite environment. This is a mega cost saving that we are thoroughly pleased with," says Erwin Ringes.
Satisfied about the service
Cost savings are not the only benefit of the collaboration. The Private Cloud solution of MCX ensures the systems are more reliable than ever and their performance is significantly better. Erwin Ringes explains: "We are very satisfied with the services provided by MCX. Our collaboration is great, both at a strategic and operational level. Strategic because they proactively anticipate our needs, even regarding things that are not in their scope. Operational as MCX is always very responsive to our questions, using an advanced ticketing system. We have also been assigned a dedicated contact person at MCX, who is aware of all the ins and outs. This collaboration is simply perfect."
Phasing out Oracle
Yet it can be said that the collaboration is one of a kind, because Sweco will be replacing the Oracle E-Business Suite by another ERP package in the near future. This means that upgrades are no longer implemented - the system, so to speak, is “frozen”. Erwin Ringes ends his story making a wonderful compliment. "MCX is one of the friendliest suppliers I know. For example, we asked for a lot of flexibility and creativity, running release 11, which is no longer supported. Even though our collaboration will end sooner or later, MCX has always been a very reliable and great partner."
